Dear Chairwoman Poindexter and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Dale Wilson, Ph.D., to the Veterans Advisory Committee.
Dr. Wilson is a retired US Army major and a Vietnam veteran who received the Combat
Infantry Badge, Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Army Commendation medal.
Dr. Wilson retired from the military after 22 years of service and was wounded in
combat. He was assigned to various assignments in the infantry, public affairs,
armored cavalry and tanks before becoming an Asst. Professor of history at the US
Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. Dr. Wilson holds a BA degree in Business with a
minor in Journalism from McKendree University, and an MA and a Ph,D, in History from
Temple University. He is also a graduate of the US Army's Officer Candidate School.
Dr. Wilson first came to Hawai'i in the '70s when he was stationed at Schofield Barracks
on Oahu for 3 years. He has lived in Hawai'i for the past 17 years. Dr. Wilson
generously volunteers his time to many veteran organizations throughout Hawai'i
County. He states he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, Dr. Wilson
will serve a term ending December 31, 2020.
