Your Committee on Planning to which was referred:
Bill 689 : NUCLEAR ENERGY
(C-1693) Amends Chapter 3 of. the Hawaii County Code, as amended,
by adding a new article relatingto nuclear energy;
(Intr. by: Miss Lai, Messrs Kawah-ara & Dahlberg)
recommends Bill 689 be amended as follows :
(1) The following Subsection 2 of Section 2, Definitions, under
Section 1 be deleted: "Radiation sources shipped by or for
the United States government by military for national defense
purposes . "
(2) Section 6 , Penalty, under Section 1, be amended, to read:
"Any person violating any provision of this ordinance shall be
guilty of a [misdemeanor] felony and shall be fined not [more]
less than [Five Hundred Dollars ($500) ] Ten Thousand Dollars
• ($10, 000) or imprisoned for not [more] less than [six (6) months] ,
ten (10) years, or both, for each violation. "
(3) Section 3 be renumbered 4 .
(4) Section 3 to read: "Material to be repealed is bracketed. New
material is underscored. In printing this ordinance, the brackets,
bracketed material and underscoring need not be included. "
Further recommends Council approve and adopt Bill 689, as revised,
on first reading.
