I understand there are challenges in making this happen, however I wanted to state my case for your consideration. I have been the Chair of the Pahoa Regional Town Center Steering Committee under the Puna Community Development Plan for over 5 years. We conducted a survey with over 700 respondents who overwhelming supported a farmers' market within Pahoa Town. Our Committee has voted unanimously to include a market in the old town. After our beloved Luquins' restaurant burned down, which use to host the towns farmers'market, we refocused our support for the market to be located within the Pahoa Park. I recently did a Facebook blast asking for letters of support of our efforts, I have received over 100 likes and have received 20+emails in support, many of which said they had submitted testimony to you. Please support this Bill 47 and allow a farmers' market to be located within our Village. I received numerous comments from people that are tired of paying$2 for parking at Maku'u market and having to walk a very long way just to buy$10 in produce. They would rather have the option of parking for free and walking 100 feet to a local Pahoa Village market. Mahalo for your consideration, Mark Hinshaw Comm. No. Ref. To:211N.4_31.1.- 1 Ref.
