Comm. 1088: DRUNK DRIVING (D.U.I . ) LEGISLATION
From Morris Mathews , Chairman, Highway Safety Council ,
dated January 27 , 1983 , informing they support the
Federal Drunk Driving Legislation (H.R. 6170) and
requests support in lobbying efforts to have the State
laws meet the criteria set forth under the federal
legislation.
Transmits copy of Appendix E from the "Report to the
Governor on the Adequacy, Enforcement and Adjudication
of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol Laws in Hawaii" ,
prepared by the State Highway Safety Manager for-the State. Highway
Safety Council Alcohol Countermeasures Committee outlining
the key provisions and criteria of the legislation;
recommends Council support, as part of the 1983 legislative package, the
proposal to have State laws meet the criteria set forth under the Federal
drunk driving legislation (H.R. 170) .
