Bill 1034 : REZONING REQUEST - PUAKEA BAY RANCH PARTNERSHIP
(C-1406) HONOIPU AND . PUAKEA, NORTH KOHALA .
TMK: 5-6-01: .ortions of 24 and 43 (416 .887 acres)
Amends Section 25-91 (North and South Kohala Districts
Zone Map) , Article 3 , Chapter 25 (Zoning Code) of the
Hawaii County Code, by changing the district
classification of 416. 887 acres from Agricultural (A-20a)
to Agricultural (A-10a) at Honoipu and Puakea, North
Kohala; ,

recommends conditions under Section 2 of Bill 1034 be amended as
follows:
Condition (E) to read: " (E) intensive survey mapping of the
Kohala Field System remnant on the subject property, both
in and out of the special management area, and necessary
salvage archaeology shall be completed prior to [final
subdivision approval of the first increment or] any
grading or grubbing activity allowed on the subject
property[ , whichever occurs first] affected by the field
system; " V
Condition (F) to read: " (F) intensive survey mapping of
all isolated sites not in the State Land Use Conservation
District shall also be completed. Reports shall be
submitted to the State Department of Land and Natural
Resources, Historic Sites Division, and the Hawaii County
Planning Department for review and comment. Additional
work, as may be recommended by the [archaeologist] Planning
Department and the Department of Land and Natural
Resources, may be required;

Condition (G) be deleted in its entirety.
Condition (H) be relettered (G) .
Condition (I) be relettered (H) .
Further recommends adoption of Bill 1034 , Draft 2 , on second
and final reading.
(Mr . Schutte declared a
possible conflict of interest
but was allowed to vote. )
