Your Committee on Planning to which was referred Bill No. 1078
entitled: "An Ordinance Amending Chapter 25 (Zoning Code) , of the
Hawaii County Code 1983, As Amended, Relating to RD, Double Family
Residential Districts" , reports as follows :
The purpose of this bill is to clarify certain sections of the zoning
code , relating to double family residential (RD) districts.
The amendments proposed in this bill are as follows:
1) Specifies the type of dwellings, single or double family,
allowed within the RD district rather than the amount of
families as presently specified;
2) Specifies the allowable density of an RD district as
3 ,750 square feet which is noted on the zoning map, and is
being transferred to the zoning code;
3) Clarifies the minimum building site area or lot size in an
RD district to be 7,500 square feet;
of dwellings allowed in an RD
4) Specifies the numberg district,
provided the minimum area requirement is met, and clarifies
the minimum distance between buildings;
5) Specifies that three or more units on a proposed building
site in an RD district require on-site access driveway and
turn-around areas.
Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the intent and purpose
of Bill No . 1078 and recommends that it pass first reading.
