Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Bill No. 1125,
entitled: "An Ordinance Amending Articles 7 , 8, 9, 15, 16, 17 , and
18, Chapter 25 ( Zoning Code) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 , As
Amended, Relating to Permitted Uses" , reports as follows:
The purpose of this bill is to identify aquaculture activity as a
permitted use within the Residential-Agricultural (RA) , Agricultural
(A) , Intensive Agricultural (IA) , General Industrial (MG) , Limited
Industrial (ML) , Open (0) , and Unplanned (U) zoned districts .
In some districts of the zoning code, aquaculture activity is implied
as a permitted use. This bill makes it clear that this activity is a
permitted use within the above-stated districts . Further ,
aquaculture activity is compatible with the stated objectives and
purposes of the zoned districts.
Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the intent and purpose
of Bill No. 1125 and recommends that it pass first reading.
