Poindexter, Council Chair .c and Members of the Hawai`i County Council FROM: Avi Karen Eoff, Council Member SUBJECT: Proposed Amendment to Bill No. 54, Relating to the Veterans Advisory Committee. Please see below a proposed amendment to Bill No. 54. The proposed amendment is illustrated in Ramseyer format with respect to the contents of Bill No. 54 (material to be deleted is bracketed and stricken, material to be added is underscored). This amendment would correct the total number of Committee members who are appointed by the mayor, from fourteen to twelve. Consequently, SECTION 2 of Bill No. 54 would be amended to read as follows: "SECTION 2. Chapter 15, article 7, section 15-61, of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), is amended to read as follows: "Section 15-61. Organization. The veterans advisory committee shall be composed of[fourteen] twelve members, who shall be appointed by the mayor, confirmed by the council, and may be removed by the mayor with the approval of the council. In addition, the Hawai`i Island Veterans Services Counselor of the Office of Veterans Services (Department of Defense of the State of Hawai`i) and the Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation, or their designated representatives, shall serve as ex-officio members of the committee, without the power to vote."" Due to the limited scope of this amendment, a draft of the version of Bill No. 54 that would result if this proposed amendment is adopted, is not attached. Comm. No '5(0 KE/wpb Ref. To: if f(A) Ref.
