SUBJECT: Proposed Amendment to Resolution No. 244-17; Resolution Authorizing the
Office of the Mayor to enter into an Agreement with the University of Hawai`i
Please find attached proposed amendments to Resolution No. 244-17. The proposed
amendments are illustrated below in Ramseyer format with respect to the contents of Resolution
No. 244-17, Draft 2.
1. The title is amended as follows:
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN
AGREEMENT WITH THE [! - - :. e - 1.,_ :. ' - _ :. ' :,_,] UNIVERSITY OF
HAWAII
2. The first clause is amended as follows:
WHEREAS,the Department of Research and Development wishes to enter into an
agreement with the [Office of Research Services,] University of Hawai`i; and
3. The second clause is amended as follows:
WHEREAS,the agreement is to provide $25,000 to the [Office of Research Services,]
University of Hawai`i to fund [their-] its AgVenture program; and

4. The enacting clause is amended as follows:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, in
accordance with section 46-7, Hawai`i Revised Statutes, that the Mayor of the County of Hawai`i
is authorized to execute, on behalf of the County, an agreement and related documents with the
[Office of Research Services,] University of Hawai`i, by and through the Office of Research
Services,to provide aid to the County as described above.
A draft copy of Resolution No. 244-17, Draft 2, is attached with these proposed amendments
incorporated therein.

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN
AGREEMENT WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII
WHEREAS,the Department of Research and Development wishes to enter into an
agreement with the University of Hawai`i; and
WHEREAS,the agreement is to provide $25,000 to the University of Hawai`i to fund its
AgVenture program; and
WHEREAS,Hawai`i Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that County departments
obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments
respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend,
and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken
pursuant to those powers; now,therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, in
accordance with section 46-7, Hawai`i Revised Statutes,that the Mayor of the County of Hawai`i
is authorized to execute, on behalf of the County, an agreement and related documents with the
University of Hawaii; by and through the Office of Research Services,to provide aid to the
County as described above.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawai`i shall
transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the Finance Department, and the
Department of Research and Development.
