Your Committee on Finance to which was referred;
Comm. 57 : AUTHORIZING MULTI-YEAR LEASE OF SPACE FOR TAX
(Res. 22). OFFICE PURPOSES
From Director of Finance Stanley A. Nakamae dated
January 6, 1981. submitting a resolution authorizing
multi-year lease of space in the former Kress
Building in Downtown Hilo for tax office purposes;
recognizes the problem of space constraints within the County agencies
and recommends that Resolution 22 be amended to:
(1) Authorize the Administration to lease the space available
in the former Kress Building in Downtown Hilo for County
purposes for five years with option for another five years;
and
(2) Budget sufficient funds in future fiscal years to: cover
the obligations of the County.
It is further recommended that Resolution 22 , as amended , be adopted
by the Council.

considered ..all available sites to locate the real property tax
division and it was felt that the Kulana Naauao ..facility would be
most appropriate for this purpose based on the fact that the real
property records were too importantto be exposed to tsunami inun-
med
dation and that the Kress site would not be able to provide the
neededparking requirements. ,
Therefore, the. Committee recommends that Resolution 22 be amended to
authorize the following:
(1) Location of the Real Property -Tax Division' in the •Kulana Naauao
facility;
(2) Leasing of space in the former Kress Building in Downtown Hilo
for the space requirements of the County' s displaced programs
from the Kulana Naauao facility; 'and
(3) Budgeting of sufficient funds in future fiscal years to meet the
obligations of the County.
It is further recommended that the Council approve and adopt
Resolution 22 , as amended.
