& Comm. 215: APPROPRIATION OF ADDITIONAL FUNDS FOR KUAKINI HIGHWAY
(Res® 72) SIGNALIZATION AND WIDENING (KAILUA) ORDINANCE 631/80
From Planning Director Sidney M. Fuke dated March 19 ,
1981 informing the County, with appropriated funds of
$600 ,000, is now in the process of making improvements
of the area along Kuakini Highway between Hualalai and
Palani Roadsto partially alleviate the traffic conges-
tion in and around Kailua Village; however, it would
be extremely practical, timely and worthwhile to
include the signalization of the Palani Street/Kuakini
Highway intersection ..in this job- so 'that. the ' entire
stretch of Kuakini from Hualalai to Palani junction
could be synchronized.
Accordingly, requests an amendment: to Ordinance 631
to increase the Kuakini Road improvement project by
$200 ,000; thus, the total.. appropriated amount would
be $800,000;
recommends Council approve and adopt Resolution 72 to transfer $200 ,000
from the Kailua Parking, Lot account to the Kuakini Highway Corridor
Improvement account to complete improvements and signalization of
Palani Street/Kuakini.-. Highway intersection®
