& Comm. 1154 : TRANSFER OF FUNDS FOR UPGRADING COMPUTER AND
(Res . 579) INSTALLING ADDITIONAL SECURITY MEASURES
From Director of Finance Stanley A. Nakamae dated
March 15 , 1983 informing the County' s integrated
data processing/word processing operation has expanded
greatly since the installation of the Wang VS-80
computer system in 1981 and recommends upgrading to
a more powerful model (VS-100) to accommodate the
existing workload and the planned increase in usage.
Submits a resolution to transfer $62, 000 from various
accounts in the Finance Department to upgrade the
computer and install additional security measures
(a fire extinguishing system and a stronger exterior
glass wall) to protect the equipment and data;
recommends Council approve and adopt Resolution 579 .
