Comm. 1199 : PILT PAYMENTS
From HSAC President Takashi Domingo dated April 20 ,
1983 informing the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in
Meade Township v. Andrus ruled that the Bureau of
Land Management erred in providing payments-in-lieu-
of-taxes (PILT) to counties rather than townships in
Michigan. As such, the HSAC Executive Committee
recommended that each PILT county (Hawaii, Oahu,
Maui) make a contribution of $150 to the Public Lands
Trust Fund and asks favorable consideration of this
recommendation;
recommends the County of Hawaii make a contribution of $150 to the
Public Lands Trust Fund, as recommended by the HSAC President.
