COMMITTEE ON FINANCE

Your Committee on Finance to which was referred Resolution 875
entitled, "Conversion of Rural Hospitals to Long Term Care, r,,
Facilities" , reports as follows:
,Resolution 875 expresses the Council's desire to see Honokaa, Kau,
and Kohala Hospitals maintained as they presently exist and opposes
their conversion to long term care facilities. .
A report prepared by a special task force of the Department of Health
recommends that Kau, Honokaa, and Kohala Hospitals be converted to
intermediate care facilities. Hilo and Kona Hospitals would be
maintained as acute care facilities. tl
Your Committee on Finance concurs with the intent of Resolution 875
in maintaining existing services at Kau, Honokaa, and Kohala
Hospitals and recommends deletion of a portion of the resolved
statement that states "and opposes their conversion to long term care
facilities. "
Your Committee on Finance recommends approval of Resolution 875 , as
amended herein.
The above action was adopted at the Committee meeting of
April 11, 1984 , by the following vote:
In Favor : Committee members Dahlberg, De Luz , Domingo,
Hale, Kawahara, Lai, and Schutte
Opposed: None
