Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication
4O. 1733 from Laurence Capellas, Manager, Hawaii Redevelopment
Agency, reports as follows:
Communication No. 1733 informs the County Council of the Agency's
quest for inclusion in the Governor ' s budget to the Legislature. In
order to qualify for the requested funds for the Downtown Hilo
Redevelopment Plan, the County must match at least an equal amount of
funds . As pointed out in Communication No. 1733.1 , upon adoption of
the redevelopment plan, the agency ' s funds should be sufficient to
match the 1170,000 being requested. The Downtown Hilo Redevelopment
Plan, however, has not yet been approved.
Your Committee on Finance supports the Hawaii Redevelopment Agency' s
efforts in seeking State funding and refers Communication No. 1733 to
the Planning Committee for legislative assistance .
