Your Committee on Finance , to which was referred Resolution
No. 299-87 , reports as follows:
The purpose of the resolution is to transfer and appropriate funds
to assist the Hawaii Island Ho 'olako '87 Committee to finance
activities in conjunction with the celebration of the "Year of the
Hawaiian" .
Funds will be transferred from 010-101-5101 .52-115 (Overlapping.
State/County Functions ) and credited to:
May Day Pageant $2,000
Kamehameha Day Celebration 6 ,000
Hokulea in Hilo 2 ,000
Oceanic Majesty Pageant 2 ,000
Kumu Hula Concert - Kona 1,000
Makahiki Celebration 2 ,000
Closing Ceremonies - Kona 5 ,000
Hawaii Royal Heritage Pageant 5 ,000

Your committee heard support for the adoption of Resolution 299-87
from the Hawaii Island Ho'olako '87 Committee . It was suggested
that perhaps the administration could match the Council 's
contribution .
Your committee is in support of the events being planned to •
celebrate the "Year of the Hawaiian" . Your committee is also aware
that other counties are contributing similar sums to their
respective county committees to assist in the sponsorship of various
events .
Pursuant to Section 10-9 of the Hawaii County Charter , the Council ,
by resolution , may transfer part or all of any unencumbered
appropriation balance from one agency to another .
