Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution 226-87,
reports as follows:
The purpose of Resolution 226-87 is to authorize the Finance Director
to dispose of four buildings .
The Department of Education has requested the County to dispose of
Cottages #2 and #8 at the Laupahoehoe High School ( TMK: 3-5-04: 59 &
3-5-05 : 01 ) and Cottage #1 at the Paauilo Elementary and Intermediate
School ( TMK: 4-3-02: 03 ) . The Parks & Recreation Director has also
asked to have the Hilo Armory groundskeeper ' s cottage removed
( TMK: 2-3-04: 08 ) . The buildings will be disposed of by public
auction.
Your committee heard from the Director of Parks & Recreation that the
department has no use for the cottage adjacent to the Hilo Armory,
and that the building is termite ridden.
Pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 19, Hawaii County Code , the County
Council, by resolution, may dispose of real property.
Your Committee on Finance concurs with the intent of
Resolution 226-87 and recommends its adoption.
