Your Committee heard from the administration as to their desires to
construct sidewalks along Kuakini Highway between Palani Road to
Hualalai Street. Your Committee was not convinced that this project
was the best expenditure of the X300,000. The Kailua Special
District and Urban Design Review Commission will be presented with
alternative considerations .
Your Committee amended Bill 287 by reducing the amount of the
transfer from the Highway Fund Fund Balance by X300,000 (Kuakini
Highway - Sidewalk Construction) . The $300,000 will be considered at
a later date after input from the Commission is obtained.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the intent and purpose of
Bill 287, Draft 2, and recommends that it pass first reading.
