Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication 764 ,
reports as follows:
Communication 764 is a request by Councilman Dahlberg to allot funds
for a lifeguard position and extended hours at the Pahala Swimming
Pool .
During committee discussion, the Director of Parks and Rcreation
informed the committee that the lifeguard position was defunded quite
a while ago due to a lack of qualified applicants . The Director
agrees that the position should be filled and hours extended to be
consistent with other rural pool times . The Director stated that
approximately $6,200 would be needed to fund such a position and
would facilitate the extension of pool hours to include daily hours
from 8 :00 a .m. to 4 :00 p.m. The increased times will not include
evening hours .
Your Committee on Finance recommends that the Council support the
administration in funding the lifeguard position at the Pahala
Swimming Pool upon the certification of the forthcoming fund balance.
