Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill 247, reports as
follows:
The purpose of Bill 247 is to amend Ordinance 86-64, the CIP budget,
by adding the following project:
Puna Geothermal Research Facility Improvement $600 ,000
(110-199-5190 .01-115)
Of the $600 ,000 , $520 ,000 shall be provided from the State Department
of Land and Natural Resources and $80 ,000 from the Research
Corporation of the University of Hawaii . The monies will be used to
construct the Phase II Improvements to the Puna Geothermal Facility.
The Phase II Improvements include utilizing the geothermal brine,
steam and heat for processing and producing agriculture, aquaculture
and marine products .
Pursuant to Section 10-6, Hawaii County Charter , the Council, by
ordinance and the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the entire
membership, may amend the capital budget for that year .
Your Committee on Finance concurs with the intent of Bill 247 and
recommends that it pass first re ing.
