Re: Operating Budget
A concurrent resolution is being submitted to enter into an agreement with DHHL to
receive funds to reimburse the County's costs of converting street lamps located on
Hawaiian Home Lands from low pressure sodium (LPS) to light emitting diode (LED).
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating this
$400,000 to the Department of Public Works' Traffic division's Traffic Signals & Street

A. REQUEST:
An ordinance to amend Ordinance 17-39, the Operating Budget, by adding an appropriation to receive funds
in the amont of$400,000 from the DHHL (Department of Hawaiian Home Lands), for LED street light
conversion. Funds are to be appropriated to the County of Hawaii, Public Works Deaprtment in the Traffic
Division's Signals and Street Lights materials account: 020.281.5281.32.230.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
This agreement with the DHHL pays cost related to the LED street light conversion on State Hawaiian Home
Lands. This LED Conversion program reimburses the County for the conversion work done on DHHL lands.
