RESOLUTION NO. 261 17
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO
ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF
HAWAIIAN HOME LANDS, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII TO RECEIVE REIMBURSEMENT FUNDS FOR
STREETLIGHT CONVERSION ON PROPERTY HELD BY THE
DEPARTMENT OF HAWAIIAN HOME LANDS
WHEREAS, the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands for the State of Hawaii
• ("DHHL") holds certain property throughout the Island of Hawaii, which includes
various streets and/or roads that have streetlights; and
WHEREAS, the County has been undertaking a project to convert all
streetlight bulbs on the Island of Hawaii from low pressure sodium ("LPS") to light
emitting diode ("LED"); and
WHEREAS, DHHL has agreed with the County to have the streetlights on
roads that are on DHHL property throughout the Island of Hawaii converted from
LPS to LED, and to reimburse the County for this conversion; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, this Council's
consent is required to enter into this agreement; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, in
accordance with section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, that the Mayor of the County
of Hawaii is authorized to execute, on behalf of the County, the agreement and any
related documents with the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands for the State of
Hawai`i.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii
shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the Finance
Department, the Department of Public Works, and the Department of Hawaiian Home
Lands for the State of Hawaii.
