Subject: Public range needed
Aloha Council members,
A public firing range is sorely needed in order to get shooters to practice in a safe and legal place. When I
worked in the probation office I supervised many elderly men whose only crimes were target shooting in
hunting areas. They were arrested, charged, and given probation all for the lack of a range. This is wrong.
I am an NRA certified firearms instructor, an NRA certified Range Safety officer, and a former police officer
for this county. Even police officers do not get enough shooting experience in training. I was the best shot in
HPD from 1994-2003, and the reason was because I practiced on my own free time (at a private range that no
longer exists).
We already have a county shotgun range in use for decades and there has never been a problem. Please make
this happen. We are long overdue.
