Subject: Support for Modern Gun Range in Hawaii
Pp g
My name is William Gass and as a resident of Volcano, I wholeheartedly approve of the construction of a
modern state of the art shooting facility for our residents!
Such a facility will not only provide residents with a safe environment in which to maintain proficiency via
target practice, but will also be able to provide training and instruction on the fundamentals of firearms safety
and even serve as a resource for those interested in obtaining permits for handguns and long guns. As a center
for training and certification this facility could possibly even generate funds for the county through permit and
instructional fees.
Sport Shooting has experienced phenomenal growth in recent years and this facility could serve as a host for
many shooting community events/tournaments and would add to the list of county recreational activities
available for residents and could also possibly generate additional funds.
As a former resident of Oahu, I must confess that I had taken the Koko Head Range for granted until moving
here, but I had also mistakenly taken for granted that there would be public ranges on the Big Island. Especially
with the much greater numbers of sporting and hunting/subsistence shooters we have on our Hawaii island, I
actually expected multiple ranges on both Hilo and Kona sides.
I humbly ask that you approve and expedite this matter.
Mahalo,
William W. Gass
