Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution 159-8-6,
reports as follows :
The purpose of Resolution 159-86 is to amend the Salary Ordinance
No . 85-53 as follows :
Section 8 .08(f-5) . KAU HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE DIVISION. DEPARTMENT OF
PUBLIC WORKS.
1 . Transfer from Section 8 .08(f-1 ) , South Hilo Highway
Maintenance Division one position of Laborer II WB-3 .
2. Transfer from Section 8 .08(f-2) , Hamakua and North
Hilo Highway Maintenance Division one position of
Laborer II WB-3.
Section 8 .08(g) . TRAFFIC SERVICES DIVISION. DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC
WORKS.
1 . Reallocate one position of Civil Engineer VII EM-7 to
Civil Engineer VI EM-5 .
The resolution will., in effect, transfer two positions to the Kau
District , one from South Hilo and one from the Hamakua and North Hilo
Districts . The downgrading of the engineer 's position from EM-7 to
EM-5 was justified due to the traffic services division chief being
removed from a rotation currently in use within five of the six
functional divisions of Public Works . The reclassifying of the
position will result in a net savings of $3,012 annually.
Pursuant to Section 3-14, Hawaii County Charter , interim amendments
to the pay plan may be made by resolution.
