Your Committee on Finance , to which was referred Bill 137, reports as
follows:
The purpose of Bill 137 is to amend Ordinance 85-52, the Operating
Budget , by increasing revenues in the General Fund Account #3607 .00 ,
Contribution from Private Source, in the amount of $52,000 and
appropriate same to Account #010-161-5162.06-115, Community
Geothermal Technology Program.
The monies will be used to fund the CGTP small grants program which
focuses on recipients utilizing geothermal energy and by-products for
the manufacture of viable economic products .
In committee discussion , it was further clarified to the members that
there would be approximately five grants to be allotted and will be
monitored by the Department of Research & Development . According to
the Finance Director , the private contributions came from eight
sources .
Pursuant to Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter , the Council , on
behalf of the County, may accept gifts of money .
Your Committee on Finance concurs with the intent of Bill 137 and
recommends that it pass first reading .
