Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution 134-86,
reports as follows :
The purpose of Resolution 134-86 is to transfer $69,703 .45 from
Account #010-911-5911 .34-339, Self Insurance Account , and appropriate
same to Account #010-911-5911.82-339, Powell v . Water Resources
International, Inc . et al .
The monies are necessary to satisfy a judgment award handed down by
jury verdict on September 24, 1985 which found the County 44 percent
negligent in the case.
Pursuant to Section 10-9, Hawaii County Charter , the Council , by
resolution, effective immediately upon adoption, may transfer part or
all of any unencumbered balance from one agency to another .
In committee discussion, it was clarified that the $69,703.45 figure
included all costs , including interest in satisfying the judgement.
Your Committee on Finance concurs with the intent of
Resolution 134-86 and recommends its adoption.
