Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill 97 , reports as
follows:
The purpose of Bill 97 is to amend Ordinance 85-52, the Operating
Budget , by establishing an account of $97 ,000 , titled State Grants -
Richardson Ocean Center , Account #3304.14 and appropriate same to
expenditure Account #010-503-5503.31-341 , Richardson Ocean Center , of
the General Fund.
Section 16, Act 300, SLH 1985 provided funds to the State 's
Department of Planning and Economic Development for further
development of marine and ocean recreational resources . Primarily,
these non-contributory funds will be used for educational and
improvement purposes at the Richardson Ocean Center in Keaukaha.
In Committee discussion, it was noted that the $97 ,000 will not
require any County matching funds and that the monies used for
educational purposes have very few restrictions .
Your Committee on Finance concurs with the intent of Bill 97 and
recommends that it pass first reading.
