Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication 229,
reports as follows:
The purpose of Communication 229 is to confirm or reject the
appointment by Mayor Dante K. Carpenter of Mr . Rankin Gossert to the
Board of Ethics , for a term to expire December 31, 1985 . A resident
of Hilo, Mr. Gossert will fill the vacated position of Ms . Jean Smith.
Pursuant to Sections 13-4 and 14-5 of the Hawaii County Charter,
' board and commission members shall be appointed by the Mayor and
confirmed by the Council.
Your Committee on Finance recommends approval of the appointment of
Mr . Rankin Gossert to the Board of Ethics and requests his presence
at the Council meeting at which confirmation is to be held.
