Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication 16-1,
reports as follows:
The purpose of Communication 161 is to confirm the appointment by
Mayor Dante K. Carpenter of Mr. Jeffrey Choi to the Police
Commission. A resident of Hilo, Mr.. Choi will replace
Takashi Aragaki whose term has expired. Mr. Choi will serve in one
of the two seats representing North and South Hilo, with his term
expiring on December 31 , 1989 .
Pursuant to Sections 7-2.2 and 13-4(b) of the Hawaii County Charter ,
board and commission members shall be appointed by the Mayor and
confirmed by the Council .
Your Committee on Finance, after review, recommends approval of the
appointment of Mr .. Jeffrey Choi to the Police Commission and requests
his presence at the Council meeting at which confirmation is to be
held .
