Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill 34, reports as
follows :
The purpose of Bill 34 is to amend Chapter 2, Article 15 ,
Section 2-91 .1, Hawaii County Code 1983 , relating to financial
discosures and disclosures of interest . The bill will revise the
format of the existing section whereby clarifying what is currently
written by assigning letters to each of seven ranges of dollar
values . The State of Hawaii financial disclosure law currently uses
the same letter code system.
In committee discussion, Councilwoman Jitchaku spoke in favor of the
bill citing the lengthy procedure in financial disclosures and that
any streamlining of the code would be an improvement over the
existing system.
Your Committee on Finance concurs with the intent of Bill 34 and
recommends that it pass first reading .
