Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill 17 , reports as
follows:
The purpose of Bill 17 is to amend Section 1 , Chapter 2, Article 16 ,
Section 2-101 (c ) , Hawaii County Code 1983 , relating to the
compensation for use of private automobiles .
The change in the bill will give the council chairman the authority
to provide monthly car allowance to any councilmember , officer or
employee for the regular use of a privately owned automobile in the
legislative branch . The mayor shall retain his authority governing
car allowances amongst his executive branch .
During committee discussion, Councilman Kokubun , for the record,
asked that the bill be referred back to committee for review of its
financial impact .
Your Committee on Finance concurs with Bill 17 and recommends that it
pass first reading .
