Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill 673, reports
as follows:
Bill 673 proposes to amend Ordinance 88-81 , the Capital Improvement
Budget for Fiscal Year 1988-89, by redesignating the source of funds
from the sale of general obligation bonds to funds from the General
Fund for the following project:
110-299-5298 .23-115 Ka 'u Police Station $100,000
The Police Department is requesting an additional allotment of
$150 ,000 to complete the Ka 'u Station as originally planned. A
downsized building would require them to operate from two
facilities, approximately 1-1/4 miles apart, with jail cells, locker
room and squadroom in one location, and office space, public service
areas and emergency generators in another .
With the current personnel numbers assigned to Ka 'u, it is
questionable as to the cost effective and operation efficiency in
the two location system. Bill 673 proposes $100 ,000 and Bill 674
proposes another $50,000 .
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the intent and purpose
of Bill 673 and recommends that pass first reading.
