Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill 671, reports
as follows :
Bill 671 proposes to amend Ordinance 88-81 , the Capital Improvement
Budget for Fiscal Year 1988-89, by adding the following project:
110-699-5697 .13-115 Kailua Transfer Station $60 ,500
Improvements
Funds for this project will be provided from the fund balance of the
General Fund .
The Department of Public Works is proposing to install a new system
for compaction of transfer station trailers . Current operation
requires the maintenance of a fleet of vehicles, including a spare,
with a hydraulic power unit . Any breakdown affects several
stations, whereas it is anticipated any breakdown in the new system
will only affect that station .
Should the new system prove successful , it would eliminate the need
for special trucks .
Your Committee on Finance is in accordith the intent and purpose
of Bill 671 and recommends that it p s first reading.
