Your Committee on Finance , to which was recommitted Bill 630,
reports as follows:
Bill 630 proposes to amend Ordinance 88-81, the Capital Improvement
Budget for Fiscal Year 1988-89 , by increasing the appropriation for
the following project :
Department of Parks and Recreation
Carvalho Park [ $25,000 ] $100 ,000
(110-599-5592 .23-115 )
Funds for this project shall be provided from the Bond Fund Fund
Balance .
Your Committee on Finance has been informed that the reasons for the
need of the funds are as follows : "Severe structural damage , due to
ground termite infestation, has been found throughout the
pavilion/kitchen structure located at Carvalho Park . In addition ,
ground settlement and possibly earthquake occurrences have caused
cracks in the concrete floor and posts . Due to these damages ,
repair of the concrete floor , reinforcement of the concrete posts,
and reconstruction of the pavilion and kitchen areas have been
determined to be the most feasible solution . "
Bill 630 was passed on first reading and referred back to Committee
to allow the Committee the opportunity to consider the Carvalho Park
proposal in conjunction with the recommendations accompanying the
rest of the available fund balances .
Your Committee is further aware that the new structure will be
approximately 25 ' x40 ' in area .

Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the intent and purpose
of Bill 630 and recommends that it pass second and final reading .
