Your Committee on Finance , to which was referred Bill 583 , reports
as follows:
Bill 583 proposes to amend Ordinance 88-83 , the Operating Budget for
Fiscal Year 1988-89 , by increasing revenues in Account No . 3301 .95 ,
Federal Grants Marijuana Eradication, General Fund by $246 ,000 .00
and appropriating same to Account No . 010-201-5218 .65-115 Marijuana
Eradication, General Fund.
Your Committee on Finance has been made aware that the Drug
Enforcement Administration of the U. S. Department of Justice has
agreed to pay to the Hawaii County Police Department $246 ,000 to
defray costs attributed to the eradication of marijuana cultivation .
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the intent and purpose
of Bill 583 and recommends that it 7s. first reading.
