Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill 495 , reports
as follows:
The purpose of Bill 495 is to amend Chapter 18, Article 2,
Division 3, Section 18-49(a) , Hawaii County Code 1983, relating to
the schedule of fares by raising the initial taximeter actuation
rate from $1 .20 to $2.00.
Your Committee on Finance was informed that Ordinance 88-19 only
increases the rate of the taxicab from 20 cents for each additional
1/6 of a mile to 20 cents for each additional 1/8 of a mile but
failed to raise the initial meter actuation rate.
Your committee is aware that this change is based on the advice of
the Corporation Counsel and fills an inadvertent omission in
Ordinance 88--19 .
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the intent and purpose
of Bill 495 and recommends that it pass first reading.
