Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution
No. 409-88, reports as follows:
The purpose of Resolution No. 409-88 is to approve the presenting of
plaques with bases and plates to the officials and kumu hula at the
25th Merrie Monarch Festival .
Your Committee on Finance is aware that the Merrie Monarch Festival
will celebrate its silver anniversary during the 1988 hula
festival . The success of the festival was due largely to the
persistence and dedication of the officials and kumu hula in their
goals to honor King David Kalakaua and to perpetuate the traditions
of the hula.
Your Committee has been informed that the Council of the County of
Hawaii wishes to honor the officials and kumu hula for their
unselfish and dedicated efforts by presenting them with appropriate
plaques as mementos .
Your Committee on Finance concurs with the intent of Resolution
No . 409-88 and recommends its adoption.
