Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill 436 , reports
as follows:
Bill 436 proposes to amend Ordinance 87-58 , the Operating Budget for
Fiscal Year 1987-88 , by increasing revenues by $34 ,750 in the
General Fund Account No . 3301 .43 , Federal Grants-UMTA, Section 18 ,
($26 ,750 ) and Account No. 3304 .26 , State Grants-Ridesharing
Promotion ($8 ,000 ) and appropriating same to the following:

Your Committee on Finance is aware that the County has received
approval on its request 'on UMTA, Section 18 grant for capital and
operating assistance for fiscal year 1987-88 in the amount of
$26 ,750 .
Your committee further reports that during the course of discussion,
testimony was presented as follows:
1 . The $26 ,750 is part of a larger grant that the County had
applied for .
2 . The $26 ,750 will be used primarily for equipment purchases
as part of a long-range purchasing plan .
3 . The motor vehicle (sedan) which costs $16 ,000 is to be used
by the Transit Operations Administrator .

4 . The ridesharng promotion will be carried out by the Mass
Transit Agency rather than contracted out to an outside
agency .
5 . Contrary to what is stated in the communication, the County
is not a co-contributor of the $8 ,000 for public transit
advertising .
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the intent and purpose
of Bill 436 and recommends that it pass first reading .
