Your Committee on Finance , to which was referred Resolution
No . 360-87 , reports as follows:
The purpose of Resolution No . 360-87 is to. amend the Salary
Ordinance as follows:
Section 8 .10 . FIRE DEPARTMENT
1 . Reallocate two positions of Fire Fighter SR-16 to Fire
Captain SR-24 .
2 . Retitle one position of Helicopter/Aircraft Mechanic
(Temporary as needed ) WB-15 to Helicopter Mechanic
(Temporary as needed) WB-15 .
Your Committee on Finance has been informed of the need to reallocate
two positions of Fire Fighter SR-16 to Fire Captain SR-24 at the new
South Kohala Fire Station at Waikoloa. There were 8 Fire Fighter
positions created which requires 2 Fire Captain positions to
supervise the engine company .
The duties of the Fire Captain are broken down as follows:
Supervisory and training 50%
Fire alarms and emergencies 20%
Other related duties 20%
Miscellaneous 10%
Your committee was further informed of the need to retitle one
position of Helicopter/Aircraft Mechanic (temporary as needed ) WB-15
to Helicopter Mechanic (temporary as needed ) WB-15 .
Your committee heard testimony that the reclassification of the
Helicopter/Aircraft Mechanic is strictly procedural and involves no
pay adjustment .
The Fire Chief has certified that sufficient funds are available and
the Director of Finance ,has certified to the accuracy of the
information and the availability of funds .
Pursuant to Section 3-14 , Hawaii County Charter , interim amendments to
the Pay Plan may be made by resolution .
