Your Committee on Finance , to which was referred Bill 416 , reports
as follows:
Bill 416 proposes to amend Ordinance 87-58 , the Operating Budget for
Fiscal Year 1987-88 , by increasing revenues in the General Fund 1
Account No . 3501 .07 , Drug Enforcement, by $130 ,532 .38 , and
appropriating same to Account No . 010-201-5218 .41-115 , Drug `
Enforcement .
Your Committee on Finance was informed that these funds were
received from the U. S. Marshal and have certain use restrictions .
These funds were derived from several forfeitures and are to be used
only for drug enforcement .
Your committee was further informed that the funds cannot be used to
pay regular salaries and wages .
Since it was not clear as to exactly how the funds could be used,
the Chief of Police was directed to* come up with the exact language
that prohibits the use of the funds for salaries . In addition , the
Chief was further directed to get a list as to what expenditures are
appropriate from these accounts so that the use of these funds could
be reviewed . Should any duplication exist, County funds could then
be shifted to other purposes . •
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the intent and purpose
of Bill 416 and recommends that it s first reading .
