Your Committee on Finance , to which was referred Resolution
No . 334-87 , reports as follows:
The purpose of Resolution No . 334-87 is to solicit the support of
the Hawaii County Council for the transference of the use of the
former Mass Transit Office located at Mooheau Park . This request is
being made by the Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council (HCEOC) .
The HCEOC offers the following reasons to support its request:
1 . The Mass Transit Office is not being presently used .
2 . Service to the more than 4 ,000 households served by the
Energy Assistance, Seasonal Farm Workers, USDA Surplus
Food Distribution, Transportation and other Community
Service Programs will be greatly enhanced .
3 . The present Hilo District Office at its present location
at the former Hilo Memorial Hospital is not readily
accessible to the program' s clients .
Mr . George Yokoyama, HCEOC Staff Director , and two others spoke in
support of Resolution 334-87 .
Your Committee on Finance concurs with the intent of Resolution
No . 334-87 and reco mends itsption .
