The Honorable Frank DeLuz III, Chairman
Committee on Finance _
County of Hawaii

Hilo, Hawaii 96720
Dear Chairman DeLuz:
Your Finance Committee recently passed Bill 397 which appropriates
estimated private contributions of $40,000 to cover various expenses •
related to the Coors International Bicycle Classic.
We are please to advise you that the response from the private sector
to Mayor Carpenter's solicitations for monetary support has exceeded
his initial goal of $40,000. Donations on hand now amount to $40,325.
We, therefore; request that Bill 397 be amended to increase the approp-
riation of private contributions from $40,000 to $45,000.
I am sure that you and your colleages share Mayor Carpenter's apprec-
iation to this heart warming support from the private sector.
Very truly yo s, i///2
