Your Committee on Finance , to which was referred Resolution No .
329-87 , reports as follows:
The purpose of Resolution No . 329-87 is to transfer and appropriate
$1,272 .653 as follows:
Out and From:
010-201-5207 .15-218 SOUTH HILO - GAS
Credited To:
010-201-5203 .20-449 ADMINISTRATION - EQUIP - MOTOR VEHICLE
The Police Department has in its possession , a seized vehicle , which
is a 1983 Ford pickup, Serial No . 1FTEF14Y5DRA02757 . In order to
gain permanent possession of the vehicle , a lien in favor of the
First Hawaiian Bank , has to be retired .
In response to questions posed by Councilmembers , the Finance '
Director provided the following information:
1 . The actual value of the vehicle is estimated to be about
$7 ,000 to $8 ,000 .
2 . There are no other vehicles with outstanding liens at this
time .
3 . The pickup truck will be utilized by the Police Department for
their enforcement program .
4 . No conclusion was reached on the possibility of seized
vehicles being transferred to other departments in need of
additional equipment .
Pursuant to Section 10-9 of the Hawaii County Charter , the Council ,
by resolution, may transfer part or all of any unencumbered
appropriation balance from one agency to another .
