RESOLUTION NO. 293 -
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO REIMBURSE THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS
AND RECREATION FOR PROVIDING PUBLIC SAFETY AT THE 24TH ANNUAL
KWXX HO`OLAULE`A IN DOWNTOWN HILO.
WHEREAS,the KWXX FM radio station hosted the 24th Annual KWXX Ho`olaule`a, a
drug-free and alcohol-free event,that was held on September 30, 2017, in downtown Hilo; and
WHEREAS,the KWXX Ho`olaule`a is an annual, live-music block party that is
attended by thousands of people from all over Hawai`i Island and the neighbor islands; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation was a co-sponsor of this year's
event and assisted with logistics; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation requests funding assistance to help
offset the costs for special-duty police officers that were needed at the event for traffic control
and public safety; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation as a reimbursement for hiring special-duty police officers for the 24th
Annual KWXX Ho`olaule`a.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
