RESOLUTION NO. 294 1/
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE SUCCESS
FACTORY,INC. TO SUPPORT A 3-DAY CAMP FOR BIG ISLAND STUDENTS TO
PARTICIPATE IN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATH
PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES.
WHEREAS, the Success Factory, Inc., is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization whose
objective is to advance interest and achievement in science, technology, engineering and math
(STEM)by preparing Hawaii Island students to become the workforce for the innovation
economy of the 21st century; and
WHEREAS, on October 13-15, 2017, the Success Factory, Inc., dba NexTech will be
hosting a 3-day camp at Kilauea Military Camp, which will feature activities that include
national park explorations and a variety of STEM lessons relating to natural resources, cultural
practices, and scientific research; and
WHEREAS, the Success Factory, Inc., is requesting funds to support the curriculum of
the NexTech 3-Day Camp; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports alcohol and drug free events
that promote healthy lifestyles; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to The Success Factory, Inc., for a 3-day camp for Big Island
students to participate in science,technology, engineering and math(STEM)programs and
activities.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

010.251.5251.39 Department of Liquor Control $1,500

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
