JNSV OF M • <br /> • �^ea�>�I'� • <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII -•. :#- STATE OF HAWAII <br /> ATE pp.N►. <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 297 17 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE YWCA OF <br /> HAWAII ISLAND FOR A TWO-DAY SYMPOSIUM TO ADDRESS TERRORISM AND <br /> MASS-VIOLENCE CRIMES IN HAWAII. <br /> WHEREAS, YWCA of Hawai`i Island is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization that is <br /> dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace,justice, freedom, <br /> and dignity for all; and <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Hawai`i Crime Victim Compensation Commission, in <br /> conjunction with YWCA of Hawai`i Island and the County of Hawai`i Office of the Prosecuting <br /> Attorney, have organized a two-day symposium to discuss existing, coordinated efforts and <br /> protocols in Hawai`i to prepare for and respond to terrorism and mass-violence crimes at the <br /> county, state, and federal levels; and <br /> WHEREAS,the target audience will be emergency services personnel, law enforcement, <br /> criminal justice and military personnel, crime victim and survivor advocates, mental and <br /> behavioral health professionals, health and social service providers, and other agencies that may <br /> respond to incidents of terrorism and mass-violence crimes; and <br /> WHEREAS, the symposium, which will be held on October 26-27, 2017, at the Kilauea <br /> Military Camp, will identify local partners and develop a collaborative strategy that will meet the <br /> needs of survivors and communities affected by terrorism and mass-violence crimes; and <br /> WHEREAS, YWCA of Hawai`i Island is requesting funds to purchase food and <br /> beverages for the two-day symposium for approximately 125 participants; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Office of the <br /> Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to YWCA of Hawai`i Island for a two-day symposium to <br /> address terrorism and mass-violence crimes in Hawai`i. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
