SUBJECT: Request for information from the Program Manager for the Wastewater Branch of
the Department of Health regarding the department's management of non-
disinfected wastewater and its possible discharge and disposal into an array of
shallow sumps, injection wells and ocean outfalls on Hawai`i Island.
By means of this communication I am requesting Sina Pruder, Program Manager, Department of
Health Wastewater Branch, come before the Hawai`i County Council Committee on
Environmental Management and provide information to address the aforementioned issue of
possible discharge and or disposal of non-disinfected wastewater on Hawai`i Island.
I would like to request this item be placed second on the October 3, 2017 agenda for the
Environmental Management Committee and will require 60 minutes for this important
matter.
