Re: Resolution Accepting Donation
Enclosed is a resolution accepting a monetary donation of$1,727.58 from the Hilo
Rotary Club Foundation, P.O. Box 4192, Hilo, Hawai`i 96720. This money will be used
to install three wooden memorial benches at the Kuhio Kalaniana`ole Park in Hilo to
honor senior members for their contributions to the Rotary Club and to the community.

B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Council action is being requested to accept and acknowledge a donation of$1,727.58 by Hilo Rotary Club
Foundation to be used to install three wooden memorial benches to honor senior members for their
contributions to the Rotary Club and community.

Enclosed,please find a check from the Hilo Rotary Club Foundation for the amount of$1,727.58 which is a
donation from our The Rotary Club of Hilo to cover the cost of 3 wooden benches being installed in the Kuhio
Kalanianaole Centenniel Park. These benches will be dedicated as memorial benches honoring some of our
most senior members for their contributions to The Rotary Club of Hilo and also to the community throughout
their years of membership. One bench is also to honor The Rotary Club of Hilo chartered in 1920. Thank you
for your assistance in procuring the benches and working with our committee to properly install the benches in
several special locations park so they may be enjoyed by anyone who visits. Our club is very proud to be able
to enhance the park for the community.

RE: Resolution No. 315-17 : RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE
OF A MONETARY DONATION OF $1,727.58 TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS
AND RECREATION
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request
is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its future agenda.
