Dear Chairwoman Poindexter and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate James McCully of Council District 3 to the Board of
Appeals. Mr. McCully is a business owner and has owned and operated several
businesses in the.past including McCully Farms, James McCully Orchidculture, The
Orchidworks and Mauna Kea Orchids. He currently owns McCully Works.
Mr. McCully states that:he is interested in statutory reform of public lands, as well as
economic development for East Hawai'i. He is a current member the Hawai'i Island
Economic Development Board (VP), Kanoelehua Industrial Area Association (KIAA) and
Hawai'i Island Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. McCully has been a resident of Hawai'i for the past 44 years and is not affiliated with
any political party. If confirmed, Mr. McCully will serve a term ending December 31,
2017 and will subsequently be eligible for re-appointment to a full 5-year term.
